Fruit Dessert Pizza Recipe

Fruit dessert pizza is a fun and easy dish to make. It is especially conducive to including kids or grandkids in the decorating process.

If you’re using fruit toppings to make this recipe, sugar cookie dough is best. However, you can also use peanut butter or chocolate chip dough. You can even decorate it with strawberries and chocolate or caramel chips, chocolate or caramel syrup, coconut flakes, nuts, etc. There are tons of dessert pizza ideas you can try.

Ingredients for Fruit Dessert Pizza

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this delicious dessert pizza:

  • 1-2 rolls of cookie dough based on how big you want to make it (you can make the dough from scratch if desired)

  • 1 package (8 oz.) of plain cream cheese (easier if you let it come to room temp)

  • 16 oz. container of Cool Whip

  • Various fruit cut into slices (my top fruit picks for this pizza are: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, and blackberries)

Directions to Make Fruit Dessert Pizza

It takes less than 30 minutes to make this fruit dessert pizza recipe. Before you get started, make sure to gather all of the ingredients and think about the type of crust you want to use. We usually make our fruit pizza with sugar cookie dough, but you can choose whatever dough you prefer.

You can also use a variety of toppings and types of frosting. Although we prefer to make cream cheese frosting for fruit pizza, other good options include chocolate and even strawberry. Try experimenting with different dessert pizza ideas to see what topping you prefer!

Once you’ve gathered the ingredients, follow these steps to make your own fruit dessert pizza:

1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Cookie Dough

Get started by preheating the oven to the temperature noted on the cookie dough you’re using (this is usually around 350 degrees, but it could vary). Press the cookie dough evenly onto an ungreased, round pizza pan or a cookie sheet.

2. Bake the Cookie Dough

The next step is to bake the cookie dough until it’s slightly brown. The time will vary depending on what’s recommended for the dough you’re using. This usually takes us about 10-12 minutes if the oven is preheated to 350 degrees. Make sure to carefully observe the baking process, as you don’t want to overcook the dough!

3. Prepare the Topping

To prepare the topping, cut the cream cheese into smaller pieces. Beat together the cream cheese and a couple of large scoops of Cool Whip. Keep adding Cool Whip until the mixture is smooth and spreadable. Refrigerate until ready to use.

4. Decorate the Dessert Pizza

Once the cookie dough has completely cooled, spread the topping onto it. Now comes the creative part. You can decorate the pizza with the fruit in whatever way you choose. You can make circles from the middle of the pizza or make flowers using the kiwi as leaves and strawberry as the flower pedals. You can even make a wagon wheel design.

The “sky is the limit” to what you can do with your design. You can even use the various berries for accent pieces. Have fun and enjoy decorating this delicious treat!

5. Serve the Sweet Pizza

After you’re done preparing it, the last step is to serve the sweet pizza to your sweeties. WARNING: YOU WILL BE ASKED TO MAKE THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN!!
